Team

The three who built it

Named in the company’s own interviews. No other staff were ever listed publicly.

Josh Lucas

Founder and President

A background in education, media, and startups. He lives in Mount Washington, and it was his search for a workspace big enough for the company that turned a closed hardware store into The Hardware Store.

Also the person who answered every interview about the company.

Jason Philips

Co-founder

One of the three who built the platform, alongside Josh Lucas and Tim Palko.

Tim Palko

Co-founder

One of the three who built the platform, alongside Josh Lucas and Jason Philips.

No photographs of the team are shown. The original site carried no portrait of any of the three, and no archived photograph of them survives. Putting stock faces beside their names would have been a fabrication, so this page carries the names and the record instead.

Around them

A company inside a building full of companies

Crowdasaurus was the reason The Hardware Store exists: Josh Lucas needed a workspace for the company and thirty others, and the old Bud’s Hardware on E. Warrington Avenue was empty. The result was a co-working incubator for Pittsburgh’s media and crowd-sourcing start-ups, with Crowdasaurus as one of its first tenants.
